"We invite young people to create and plan projects which are personally challenging. Such projects develop confidence, strength, resilience and breadth, as applicants take independent ownership of something they are keen to do. Applications are self-designed."
"We provide mentoring and expenses funding for accepted projects. Applications must be created from scratch, well outside the individual(s) comfort zone, non-curricular and non-commercial." Previous students say they developed a number of skills through the completion of their challenges. These not only included planning and organisation skills, but also communication, problem solving, negotiating, presentation, teamwork and leadership skills. They also reported greater self-confidence, independence and personal ambition. All these attributes are hugely attractive to recruiters and you'll also have gained some excellent stories to tell in interviews when they ask you to tell them about a time when you achieved success, pushed yourself, overcame adversity, etc.

About Mark
Lt Mark Evison died in 2009 from a gunshot wound while serving as a British army officer in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. He was attempting to get the platoon to safety following an ambush. The Foundation was set up in his memory, and his values and characters are a driving force within it. Mark chose to set himself many difficult challenges, always showing grit, resilience, kindness, innovation, integrity and team support. His story inspires many of our young applicants. |
